Packing your Kickoff

The Hook and Carry Handles, Leather Gloves, lighter, and Care Kit will all fit inside your Kickoff Grill. The Kickoff and a half bag of charcoal will fit inside a 14” Tote Bag.

Pretty much everything else you need will fit inside a small metal trash can, which can then be used for ash collection.

Charcoal – dealer’s choice.
  • Regular charcoal – requires lighter fluid or fire starter
  • Lump – most natural form, requires lighter fluid or fire starter
Ash Disposal/Cleanup
  1. Allow ash to cool completely.
  2. Wrap ash in aluminum foil.
  3. Dispose of in the trash.

It is important to leave outdoor areas the way you found them. If you’re in a hurry, carefully removing the charcoal as soon as you are finished cooking will accelerate the cool down process. Remember to plan ahead so that you can dispose of waste properly. This helps to minimize campfire impacts and keeps wildlife and other visitors safe. Hot ash should be placed in a fireproof container—we like to use a small metal trash can with a lid.

Note: The ash from lump charcoal can be used as a fertilizer in your garden. It’s loaded with potassium carbonate, which is good for many plants. Just make sure the lump charcoal you’re using is additive free.

We’ve added a packing list that we like to use here at Lodge. Print it off or save it to your phone to use as an easy reference  when you prepare to travel with your Kickoff Grill
