How to Throw a Galentine’s Day Party

By: Lodge Cast Iron / January 24, 2024

Call us cliché, but we dig any reason to celebrate with our friends, and that’s what Galentine’s Day is all about! Ready to host? We've got Galentine’s Day ideas to help you throw the perfect party for your nearest and dearest—complete with Valentine's Day recipes and all the permission to think pink!

Pull out your fancy dishes

When it comes to Galentine’s, we say set the table in maximalist style. Ditch the paper plates and pull out a tablecloth. It’s the perfect time for your fanciest dishes, in pinks, reds, and florals, to shine!

Bring cheese and chocolate

We have no shortage of Galentine’s Day food ideas, but we’ll start with the standards: cheese and chocolate. Indulge in baked brie, homemade pizza rolls, or bacon-wrapped dates—all perfect partners for a glass of bubbly. Top it all off with Valentine’s Day dessert recipes involving chocolate, and lots of it.

Of course, we’re pulling out our Valentine’s bakeware to make it happen. In our Heart Mini Cake Pan, we’re elevating things with this Mini Chocolate Gateaux recipe. That’s a fancy, French way to say: decadent, mini chocolate cakes. Then we’ll use our Heart Skillet to make a special Valentine’s brownie recipe with a kick. We’ve lovingly dubbed it the Heart Burn Brownie for its secret ingredient (cayenne pepper), and we love to serve it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Serve straight from your cast iron cookware

This is a hosting tip for all seasons for two reasons. First, cast iron retains heat really well, so you can keep your snacks warm from kitchen to table. Second, easy cleanup. No need to pull out extra serveware, especially if you’re setting the table with fine china that can’t go in the dishwasher. Just throw down a trivet and bring your cast iron to the table.

Decorate something sweet together

If you’re looking for a fun Galentine’s Day activity, treat your friends to some cake or cookie decorating. Make a big batch of heart-shaped sweet treats or bake something beautiful in our Fluted Cake Pan. Then, whip up some of our resident baker Shannon Van Dusen’s homemade buttercream

You can find that recipe and all of her ideas on how to zhuzh up a boxed cake mix here—there’s no shame in baking something semi-homemade. And if you’re looking for decorating tips, she provides ideas on decorating fluted cakes that compete with your local bakery.

Have a wine tasting

Invite everyone to bring a bottle of wine or batch mocktails to share at your get-together. This is a great way to offset the cost of providing drinks from the host and gives everyone a chance to add something to the Galentine’s spread. You can also turn your drink menu into a fun and easy activity by tasting each drink and rating it together.
