Social Responsibility

Community is important to us.

At Lodge Cast Iron, we act in the best interest of our environment and local area — not because we feel we are supposed to, but because investing in our roots is an important part of our ethical integrity. As a fifth-generation, family-owned company, we are committed to doing the right thing for our employees and our community.

Through fundraising initiatives and charity auctions, Lodge Cast Iron has raised well over $1 million to support our community and the surrounding area.

Lodge National Cornbread Cook-off

Each April, the small, historic town of South Pittsburg draws thousands of visitors to celebrate cornbread—the staple of southern food and cast iron cooking. Lodge sponsors the National Cornbread Cook-off, a search for the nation's best cornbread recipe. During the National Cornbread Festival, Lodge opens its foundry doors to the public for free tours.

Since the festival began, over $1 million in proceeds have been donated to:

  • Landscape local streets
  • Build and support athletic facilities and grounds
  • Support schools, daycares, and boy scout troops
  • Support local theaters, churches, and libraries

Tennessee Aquarium's
Serve and Protect

Cookbook publisher Oxmoor House and Meredith Corporation donated $25,000 to the Tennessee Aquarium's Serve and Protect initiative in Lodge's name. This initiative supports the practice of sustainably caught seafood and works to continue the conversation and raise awareness of sustainable fishing practices. Lodge continues to support this initiative as a sponsor of the annual fundraising event.

Tennessee Adopt-A-Highway

In 2018, Lodge adopted a 2-mile stretch of Highway 72 near South Pittsburg, Tennessee. On the group's first weekend, employees collected three truck beds full of garbage and one truck bed full of tires. Since the program's inception in 1989, Tennessee volunteers have collected more than 12 million pounds of litter from Tennessee's roadsides. These valuable contributions are creating cleaner roadsides, reducing maintenance costs, and boosting litter prevention awareness in the Volunteer state.

Tennessee Wildfire Relief

In December 2016, Lodge partnered with the Dollywood Foundation’s My People Fund and raised over $100,00 for families impacted by the Tennessee wildfires through the online sale of the 2016 Great Smoky Mountains Skillet.
