Seared Pork Chops with Caramelized Apples and Onions

Ingredients

  • 1 Granny smith apple, sliced
  • 1 sweet onion, sliced in rings
  • 3-5 leaves of fresh sage, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 large (1 inch thick) pork chops, bone in

Preparation Directions

  1. In a 12" skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Saute sage, apple slices and onion until caramelized. Remove apples and onions.
  2. Turn heat up to medium high. Add remaining butter. Salt and pepper pork chops.
  3. Sear pork chops 6-14 minutes on each side, depending on thickness and desired temperature. (The USDA recommends a minimum internal temperature of 145º F)
  4. Serve chops with apples and onions.
