Chicken Fried Venison Strips

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds venison round, cut into finger-sized strips
  • 2 cups buttermilk or milk
  • 2 cups sliced yellow onions
  • 1/2 cup coarsely ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground red pepper
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup flour

Preparation Directions

  1. Soak venison strips in milk for at least two hours.
  2. Combine spices with flour.
  3. Remove venison strips from milk and coat with flour mixture.
  4. In a cast iron skillet, fry in 1 inch of hot oil until golden brown. Place onion slices on top of meat as you fry.
  5. Drain on paper towels.
