Cast iron cookware is known for being durable and inexpensive. Many people remember Grandma cooking their favorite chicken or cornbread in a slick, black skillet. But as the resurgence of cast iron continues, folks are please to find out that versatility is one of Lodge Cast Iron's major benefits. Joanna Pruess of Fine Cooking magazine points out in her article "Heavy Metal," that whether searing, baking, frying, or braising; a cast iron skillet is a work horse in the kitchen.
